This site will undergo an upgrade over the next few months. One goal I have in mind is to provide a free monthly short story every month. I want to thank all you readers for your support.
The Kindle version of “Kaia Daughter of the Sea” will be on sale May 3 – May 10.
On her eighteenth birthday Kaia must make a difficult choice: whether to remain human or become something that just might save the oceans. All she remembered, all that she knew came from her life on land. She loved the ocean, but to choose it had a cost. Could she afford it? She would lose her friends, her family, and her hopes, but not her dreams. No, those dreams began with that first birthday text. Those dreams, sometimes nightmares, took her into these deep waters. Now she understood why. The cliffs around her were solid, unmoving, and dependable – like her former life. They were there yesterday and they would be there tomorrow. She gently touched the delicate fonds of the ferns and smelled the fresh earthy scents. This was the world she knew. She heard the breeze as it funneled up the cleft created by the creek. It sang a lullaby. A little water flowed and it gurgled over the rocks. She rubbed her hands over the plants and rocks and treasured them as precious jewels she might have to surrender. Sensations overwhelmed her. The sea beckoned. The land nourished. The waves tugged. The grass and trees called to her. She was torn between the land that sustained her, and the sea that demanded her. She looked at James then at the sea, the sea, then at James. She heard voices – voices that whispered, voices that demanded, voices that cajoled, that taunted, and seduced. She spun back and forth between sea and cliffs and held her hands over her ears. She screamed. She knelt in the sand and gravel. She screamed again. Tears streamed down her cheeks.
Now that we have written five books and have four available on Kindle, you can expect frequent posts and frequent book promotions. “Myth and Muse” will be available free from March 1 to March 5. We have also modified our books on Kindle so you can easily search for our books. Search either under Paul d’Arc Garty (for my books) or HannahBelle Thomas (for those we jointly wrote).
“Myth and Muse: Tales of Fantasy and Horror” is available on Kindle. See link below.
Mythical creatures inhabit our dreams and sometimes our nightmares. Sometimes they may live next door. Occasionally they may be our friends or acquaintances. Can we recognize them? Are they friend or foe? What journeys will they take on on? Seldom do things appear as they are and at any moment the unexpected can step out of every corner. This is a collection of fantasy short stories including: elves, a muse or two, selkies, ghosts, and vampires, Some include elements of horror and others horror with a twist of humor.
Shadows is being withdrawn from publication.
The Book of Glyphs is available in the Kindle Store.
The Book of Glyphs begins a series currently titled The Sundered Worlds. Two children, Billy and Elaine, receive an inheritance. Billy’s is a magical book, and Elaine’s is a magical pendant. The book is their story, a book of prophecy. It contains images and stories written in glyphs. Billy can’t read it and the book is haunted by seven ghosts. Worse, an evil witch lives across the street. She wants the book because it contains the most powerful magic of all. He must face the ghosts to learn how to stop her, or darkness will consume all the worlds.
Kaia Daughter of the Sea is now available in paperback.
We thank the many who have already purchased our book. Thanks for the good reviews.
The Magical Book of Glyphs is in a final reading and should be available in paperback and Kindle version in the next couple of months.
The printed version of Kaia Daughter of the Sea is nearly finished. Creating the printed version required some minor changes. To keep the story consistent, the ebook version was updated on February 19, 2014 to agree with the forthcoming printed version.
“Kaia – Daughter of the Sea” is now available from the Kindle Store: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H22X9W0
We hope you will enjoy this story. Some early draft samples are on this website for your consideration. We have begun work on the printed version and anticipate it will be available early in 2014.
Thanks to all of you good readers for your support.
We joined Knoxville Writers’ Guild a couple of months ago and are regularly attending their meetings. It’s a wonderful community of like-minded writers and an encouragement to those who are in this business. The final draft of “Kaia” is nearly complete. Only a couple of scenes need to be finalized. Then it goes out for editing. We anticipate that the novel will be available before the end of the year. We had hoped it would be available before Fall Term but that looks unlikely. The first half of “Glyphs” by P D Garty should be completed this month and sent out for both a read and editorial comments. This novel should come out shortly after “Kaia.”
Thank you for your interest and we hope that you will enjoy reading “Kaia” as much as we enjoyed writing it.
We have finished with classes. Both of us had poems published in Imaginary Gardens and have written short stories and outlines that can be used for future stories. We have returned to working on “Kaia” and “Glyphs”. We hope to have these novels out this year.
